Why They Love It

Gravel runners are the perfect environmental enrichment for zebrafish.  Gravel runners provide the illusion of real gravel and is placed outside of the tank to prevent interruption of research aims. Zebrafish are seen swimming down towards the bottom of the tank to interact with it.

Fish Gravel Runners

Fish Gravel Runners are an easy way for zebrafish to have environmental enrichment without affecting the tank sanitation or research aims. They can be purchased from a vendor or made in-house.

Equipment

  • gravel stickers, wall sticker decal
  • 1.5 to 2 liter zebrafish tank

Instructions

  • measure gravel sticker decal to fit outside of zebrafish tank
  • place sticker on the outside, bottom the tank facing upward towards the fish
