Thanksgiving Stuffed Pumpkins

Thanksgiving Stuffed Pumpkins are a cross species enrichment treat, where pigs can root and eat the salad inside, and monkeys can forage and sift through what they like and don't like.

Equipment

  • 1 Knife
  • 1 Heavy Duty Basing Spoon
  • 1 metal bowl

Materials

  • 1 Large Pumpkin
  • 2 tbsp Honey
  • 1 tsbp Dried Cranberries
  • 2 cups Lettuce
  • 1 cup Chopped Fruit: Apples, Strawberries, Berries, Cantaloupe, Mangoes, Watermelons
  • 1 cup Sliced Oranges

Instructions

  • Cut 1 large pumpkin in half with large sharp knife
  • Stick large knife on top of pumpkin and push down on one side
  • Stick large knife on top of pumpkin and push down on the other side
  • Cut through middle of pumpkin
  • Open pumpkin to have to 2 halves
  • One half, use spoon to scrape and take out all of the seeds on one side
  • Once 1 half of pumpkin is carved out and seeds are removed, pour 2 tablespoons of honey inside pumpkin
  • Pour 1 tsp of dried cranberries on top of honey
  • Pour 1-2 cups of mixed lettuce and sliced fruit inside pumpkin
  • Add 1 sliced orange to cover the salad and serve
